We do not collect your library's data.
This is a short page because there is very little to disclose. Last updated August 15, 2026.
The software
The Bookleaf desktop and mobile applications store all library data — institution details, catalog records, member records, borrowing history, fines, and gate logs — in a database file on the device you installed them on. That data is never transmitted to Bookleaf or to any third party. The applications contain no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry of any kind.
Communication between patron devices and the librarian's computer happens entirely over your own local network. It does not pass through us, and we have no ability to observe it.
Because we never receive your data, we cannot produce it, sell it, lose it, or be compelled to hand it over. If you stop using Bookleaf, deleting the application and its database file removes everything; there is no residual copy anywhere else.
Your responsibilities as the library
You remain the controller of your patrons' personal information. Bookleaf stores member names, ID numbers, roles and borrowing histories on your device, and borrowing history is sensitive information in most jurisdictions — including under the Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Practically, that means: keep the librarian's computer physically secure, restrict who holds admin accounts, use a passphrase on your backups, and read the security page before deploying on a network you do not control.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts, and does not attempt to identify you. Fonts are served from this site rather than from a third-party CDN, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.
Our web host records standard server logs — IP address, page requested, timestamp, user agent — as part of delivering the site. We do not combine these with anything else or use them to build a profile.
If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can answer you and follow up. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your address.
Purchases
Licence payments are handled by a payment provider, which processes your payment details under its own terms — we never see or store your card or account numbers. We retain the record of the purchase itself, including the institution name and contact email, because we are required to for tax and accounting purposes and so we can reissue a licence key if you lose it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. A change that materially affects what we collect would be announced on the blog, not slipped in quietly.
